Can KC and the Nightshift play a ceilidh at our wedding?
Yes. The band can include a ceilidh set with all the dances called, using backing tracks to fill in the traditional parts, so you get two bands in one. Couples often go for around half an hour of ceilidh dancing mixed into the evening, and the band give clear instructions so even complete beginners can join in. The important thing is to let us know in advance if you'd like a ceilidh, ideally when you book or as soon as you decide, so the band can plan their set and come fully prepared. It's not something they can add on the night.
What should we tell the band before our wedding?
The more the band know in advance, the better your night will be. Let us know whether you'd like a ceilidh set (this one is essential, as the band need to prepare for it), your first dance song and any other special dances, any must-play songs or songs to avoid, and your timings for the evening. We'll pass everything on so the band arrive knowing exactly what you want.
Who is in the band, and is the horn section live?
KC and the Nightshift are a six-piece band with superb male vocals and a live horn section. The horns are 100% live, and they're one of the things guests talk about most. Don't be surprised if the horn players end up out on the dance floor among your guests mid-song.
What kind of music do KC and the Nightshift play?
Pretty much everything. Their set list of over 130 songs covers soul, funk and Motown, classic and modern pop, Scottish favourites from The Proclaimers, Deacon Blue and Skerryvore, and a full-on rock and pop-punk section that has been known to start the odd wedding mosh pit. They also have big country and Irish folk sets. They're brilliant at reading the room, so the music always suits your crowd. You can see the full set list on this page.
Can the band play country music or Irish songs?
Yes to both. KC and the Nightshift have a big country set, with songs from Luke Combs, Zac Brown Band, Chris Stapleton, Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton. Their Irish and folk set includes The Saw Doctors, The Dubliners, The Pogues and The Tumbling Paddies, so they're a great choice if you have Irish guests or just fancy a proper singalong.
Can KC and the Nightshift learn our first dance song?
Yes. The band will learn your first dance and play it live, and they've pulled off some impressive turnarounds for couples who left it late to decide. That said, the earlier you let us know your song, the more time they have to make it perfect. They can also learn a second special dance, such as a father-daughter dance.
Can we make song requests?
Definitely. Send us your must-play songs before the day, and your guests are welcome to ask on the night too. The band are well known for being generous with requests, while using their own judgement to keep the dance floor full.
What are KC and the Nightshift's performance times?
The band usually play from 8pm to midnight with a 30-minute break. Alternative timings may be available on request, and early arrival can be added to your booking. If you'd like the evening to start differently, just ask and we'll check with the band.
Can the band play during the day as well as the evening?
Yes. Daytime entertainment options are available, such as an acoustic set during your drinks reception before the full band take over in the evening. Smaller line-ups can also be arranged for venues or events that don't need the full six-piece. Ask us about the options when you enquire.
What happens during the band's break?
The band provide a complimentary unmanned DJ service whenever they're not playing live, so the music keeps going through the break and before or after their sets. If you'd like a particular style of music in between, just let them know.
What equipment does the band bring, and are they insured?
KC and the Nightshift bring their own high-end PA system and stage lighting, and they hold public liability insurance with all equipment PAT tested, which most venues ask for. If your venue has a sound limiter or any other restrictions, let us know when you book so the band can plan around it.
Do KC and the Nightshift play corporate events and private parties?
Yes. As well as weddings, the band play corporate events for some of the best-known companies in the world, along with balls, milestone birthdays and private parties. Wherever they play, the aim is the same: a packed dance floor from the first song to the last.
